Good Modeling!!

Did some digging on the internet and found a couple more images to help out with the details!

4000 Euro watch!! Nice!!! coolsmiley02.gif

Posted by: ragde Feb 28 2007, 12:19 PM

Thanks a lot McGreg for that info!

Just playing around... msn-wink.gif

Ciao!

I changed up the face to make it seem a little more like a designer watch. Hope you like. I have a more detailed view of the back that is rendering now that I will post later. EDIT: I added a few images showing the back and front close up. It was modeled as bodies in a single part file. I used the pattern along curve for the bracelet part. Make sure your curve is created from a single spline or arcs that have been converted to fit spline. Segmented sketches get screwey with this feature. Also a sketch will work for pattern along curve not just a curve. I don't understand why there is a difference between sketches and cuves in solidworks. They are the same thing in most other 3d applications.

Good stuff the material and light looks good, might need a bit more contrast.

Posted by: ragde Mar 6 2007, 03:34 AM

Wao! Eric: You are really a pro... Very nice.

Well I don't have Maxwell, so I have to live with Photoworks...

I am almost done. (I have to work on some details and do a decent rendering).

Ciao

Posted by: Perfectude Mar 6 2007, 10:36 AM

great both of you
I haven't had time to start... could we see some breackdown steps..original.gif

Posted by: mcgreg Mar 6 2007, 01:30 PM

By the way, how are you dealing with the bracelet?! Is it an assembly or a part?

My computer freezed when I was working with it and now it doesn't want to start... cursing.gif And haven't had the time yet to see whats wrong... ermm.gif It's a bit old and probably just needs a little bit of inside dusting! blushsmiley.gif (I hope!! worriedsmiley.gif )

Here's my attempt.
I had a lot of trouble with the metal, it too looks dull and grey. Does anybody have any tips to getting a good chrome effect?

Posted by: Nathan Mar 9 2007, 05:25 PM

Harris,

The best tip I have for crome or reflective metal is that it has to have something to reflect. Either through environment or background image if there's nothing to see in the reflection, it's going to look unnatural.

Everyone's models look pretty high-speed btw.

Posted by: ragde Mar 9 2007, 10:20 PM

Dear Harris:
Nice work!.
I agree with Nathan, for chrome and other reflective materials you need something to reflect on them.
Probably later we can put some ideas...

Nathan, I am sorry, but I don't know what BTW means (shame) blushsmiley.gif
Can you explain that for me?

Ciao

Posted by: ragde Mar 9 2007, 11:01 PM

Dear friends:
Here some BDown... (so far).

Posted by: Nathan Mar 9 2007, 11:04 PM

btw = by the way .. sorry

Also, I noticed that you could combine all the features before the circular pattern into one revolve. Is there some disadvantage to doing that (e.g. prefer several simple features to one more complicated profile?)

Posted by: ragde Mar 9 2007, 11:39 PM

Second Page...

Posted by: ragde Mar 9 2007, 11:46 PM

Dear Nathan:
Yes, I prefer to go with simple features first... (Just in the "creative" process, because you don't know at first the turns or changes that you want on the design. Simple features are simpler to modify).

BTW, thanks for the explanation...(so much time with that on my head).

Ciao

thank you this is very helpful for my leaning in SW07!

my attempt on this challenge referencing
radge's break down. still much to improve
on rendering.. tonguesmiley.gif

here is my watch
Modeled in Rhino Rendered in Flamingo...

Posted by: Harris Tweed Mar 12 2007, 12:24 PM

Nathan and Ragde

Thanks for your advice on rendering chrome. I spent a lot of time changing the environment settings but it either had no effect or it would make the image far too bright.

I think I just need more practice at rendering, which is why these challenges are great exercise. It's also very good to see everyone's results.

Posted by: ragde Mar 12 2007, 04:35 PM

Auspirit; Perfectude:

Very nice work!

Hey Jennifer, your watch is very good looking!

ciao

Posted by: ragde Mar 17 2007, 01:41 AM

Hey Friends:
Here we are with some more images...

Well guys, I think it is time to move on to the next challenge...

Ciao
